What We Do

Australian Search and Rescue K9 is part of Australia's USAR capability, and deployment of our teams is initiated by Victorian emergency response agencies. We maintain our technical expertise and currency through membership with the International Rescue Dog Organisation (IRO), associations with REDOG (Swiss Search and Rescue Dog Organisation), and a variety of local and international training opportunities. We also attend search and rescue exercises, symposiums and workshops in Australia and overseas led by other USAR and general canine training experts to ensure that all ASAR-K9 members have access to current international best practice.
We seek to align this knowledge with the practical application and expectations of our partner agencies by fostering relationships with all facets of the Australian USAR capability, including Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB), Victoria Police, Country Fire Authority (CFA), State Emergency Service (SES) and South Australian Metropolitan Fire Services (SAMFS).
